POSITION TITLE: Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager

 

WORKSITE: 60 Hegenberger Place, Oakland, California 94621

POSITION DUTIES: Resolve Quality Issues with customers and suppliers. Administer the Company's Quality programs. Develop and implement a variety of procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with pertinent food regulations (GMP, SQF, HACCP, and Plant Inspections) and product specifications. Assures the review of documentation before is sent out to external customers. Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams. Ensure Internal & External Regulatory compliance.  Guide the Customer Relations Team to decrease the non-compliant incidents by verification of the implementation of corrective actions at partner plant locations.  Perform Food Safety and Quality Audits. Work directly with Senior Management to ensure business objectives are met for Internal and External manufacturing with regards to Food quality and Safety. Lead company GFSI or ISO certification processes. This position supervises one employee with the occupation of Data Analyst. Less than 50% travel is required to visit suppliers and customers. This position supervises one employee with the title Data Analyst.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Chemistry, Science, Food Science or a closely-related field of concentration plus 3 years of experience in job offered or Lab Technician, Analytical Chemist, Scientist or Food Ingredient Industry - related occupation. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience.

Education or Experience must include:

  1. Excel, charts, databases, pivot tables and data analysis

  2. GMP, HACCP, SQF, FSMA and FSVP government regulations

  3. Operate analytical instrumentation: HPLC, GCMS, Spectrophotometer, pulsed photo stimulated luminescence detector and digital microscopy

  4. Statistical methods of data analysis and usage of software like Minitab, MS Excel and Tableau

  5. Analyze chemistry of food raw materials such as sulfites, aflatoxins, ECH levels and other chemical constituents.

  6. Analyze customer complaints, determine root causes of the issue and implement permanent corrective actions to mitigate the problem going forward.

  7. Conduct quality verification visits to processing facilities to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards, including FSMA compliance

  8. Train and provide guidance to processing facilities quality departments regarding HACCP/Food Safety & Quality systems

  9. Conduct trend analysis and product quality matrix, audit data, and direct a plan for improvement

  10. Prepare and present monthly and quarterly quality reports and dashboards related to process improvements

  11. Technical support of the quality program including specialized inspection and testing procedures

  12. Perform analytical testing for product development

  13. Trouble shoot analytical instruments and assist in instrument maintenance – UPLC (Fluorescence, PDA, UV/VIS) and GC-MS/FID

  14. Develop laboratory proficiency programs for consistent testing amongst in-house and external (3rd party) laboratories.

  15. Method development including Monier-Williams method for determination of sulfites in dehydrated garlic and onion.

  16. Software including SAP, Tableau, Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, Sumifs and Vlookup

  17. PCQI Certified.
